President Uhuru Kenyatta has fashioned himself out as Statesman who has little or no love for newspaper journalists.
It is during his presidency and even while still an MP that he used the now popular line "Gazeti ni ya kufungia nyama".
In 2002 when he contested for the presidency most popular newspaper columns-cum reporters tagged him 'Project Uhuru which in a way might have contributed to his landslide defeat to former President Mwai Kibaki.
But from 2010 while serving as Deputy Prime Minister, his love for media tooked a drastic turn as he utilised the digital media platform that gave him a smooth channel in telling his story.
It was on the digital media platform that Uhuru's star shone brighter, both his image and communication improved greatly.
For instance, in 2009, Al Jazeera acclaimed Kenyatta, then Finance Minister for enhancing public participation in budget preparation process through twitter.
Over the past seven years, The President has perfected the art of using digital media to communicate his messages making his critics accuse him of too much PR.
However, his dislike for newspaper journalist still pops up sometimes as once in a while Kenyatta is caught on tape dismissing or complaining about 'watu wa magazeti.'
It is, however, interesting that at no time has Kenyatta been taped badmouthing broadcast journalists or bloggers. It so much therefore not too hard to understand why Kenyatta's administration is very supportive and has a soft spot for bloggers and online journalists.
Critics have often accused State House of employing the alleged '36 bloggers' to spread positive communications about the Kenyatta Presidency.
