Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i tenure at the Education Ministry could come to an end if the threats by a section of NASA leaders are anything to go by.
The opposition lawmakers have vowed to reject the reappointment of Matiang'i by President Uhuru Kenyatta in his new cabinet.
The CS, who has been at the helm of Education Ministry for more than two years now, is expected to be retained when the President names his new government next year.
Matiang'i has been hailed for reforming the education sector, notably eradicating cheating in the national examinations.
However, NASA MPs led by Lugari lawmaker, have accused Matiang'i of 'punishing' students, following the mass failure in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
In the results released by the CS on Wednesday, just 70,073 of 611,952 candidates managed minimum university entry grade of C+.
Lugari said legislators would join forces to reject Matiang'i's reappointment when Uhuru forwards his name to Parliament for vetting.
"We shall not allow him to continue ruining the lives of our children by ensuring they fail to pass exams, we shall reject his name if presented to us in the House," Savula said, speaking during a funeral service in Khwisero on Saturday.
However, if all Jubilee Party MPs back Matiang'i, NASA plot may not succeed because the ruling party has the majority in the Parliament.
