The Coast and Western regions are considered the main political battlegrounds for President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
During the last general election, majority of the residents of these areas voted for Raila.
The Cord leader would be banking on the support of the voters from these parts of the nation to smoke out President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto from office come 2017.
On the other hand, UhuRuto’s main aim is to weaken the massive support the Raila has been enjoying in these regions.
Uhuru is assured of the support of his people from central Kenya and Ruto’s Riftvalley.
If he manages to divide voters from the Western and Coast region, then it will be the end of Raila.
This has forced to two leaders to continue touring the two regions from time to time in a bid to win the next general polls.
All Jubilee wants is to weaken the regions and Raila cannot afford to lose any of these regions before the election.
He will be banking on Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Musalia Mudavadi to deliver him votes from Coast and Western if the National Super Alliance is anything to go by.
