After the famous President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga handshake, it was expected that the two leaders would give further direction on their new found unity deal.
However, a month down the line, there is political grumbling over stalling of programmes promised by the two leaders.
Over the recent days, political players from both camps seem to be changing tune despite supporting the deal fully.
On Thursday, Garissa Township MP Aden Duale claimed that ODM was out to ruin the deal.
On Sunday last last week, Siaya Senator James Orengo stated that the deal should be cancelled following the mistreatment of lawyer Miguna Miguna.
However, according to lawyer Paul Mwangi, and Ambassador Martin Kimani who were tasked by Uhuru and Raila to oversee the bid there plans are still on course.
According to the two, both Uhuru and Raila will issue a statement on the way forward as expected.
“We have covered a lot of ground and the President and Raila will soon give a statement on the way forward. Much has been achieved,” said Mwangi as quoted by the Standard.
On the other hand State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the delay to announce the next course of action was because those mandated to work on the initiative were dealing with complex issues.
“They have complex matters to deal with and are under heavy pressure, they should be allowed time to do a good job,“ said Esipisu.
It was expected that the two would embark on rallies across the country to unite the country.
