Babu Owino’s influence among youths especially those in universities could work against Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime should he win October elections, says Gideon Mamboleo.
For one week, Nairobi became a no go zone last week when hundreds of protesters mainly from University of Nairobi took to streets to condemn his arrest.
And Mamboleo says the youthful legislator’s revolutionary speeches could give government sleepless times for many years to come.
“The president should be scared of him. His speeches are fascinating and he is quite articulate,” he says, adding that such trend is adorable among the youth.
He further says: “His courage will give more youths room to grow and challenge the establishment. In fact, having following among university students gives him a cutting edge.”
Prior to his election to parliament, Owing served as chairman of influential SONU for a record four times, a history that had never been set before.
In a number of public rallies since his victory, he has been leading opposition troops against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
