Peter Ngure, a Kiambu based political analyst further says that the opposition proposed super alliance should worry Jubilee Party.

The analyst observes that chances of the opposition winning in 2017 will be more realistic if the much hyped super alliance materialises.

Ngure notes that the scenario will be similar to the one experienced in 2002 when former President Daniel Moi was defeated by National Rainbow Coalition (NARC)

“Political scenarios similar to the one in 2002 that saw Moi send packing is likely to re-occur if the opposition goes on with their planned super alliance,” he said during an interview on Tuesday.

In 2002 several politicians led by Raila Odinga and immediate former President Mwai Kibaki among other leaders ganged up together to form NARC that ended Moi’s 23 year rule.

Ngure adds that the opposition will have the numbers required to send President Uhuru home in 2017 if their super alliance plan succeeds.

He says that the opposition will have a huge task of rallying behind their voters to turn up during the election day if they dream of defeating Uhuru’s government.

“Voters in the opposition strongholds never turn up on the voting day and that is the biggest headache for the Raila’s camp even as they propose for a super alliance,” he said.

Ngure notes that if Raila succeeds in wooing Gideon Moi of Kanu, Isaac Ruto of Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM), Martha Karua of Narc-Kenya and Charity Ngilu he will stand a better chance of defeating the Jubilee government in 2017.

He added that Raila will be assured of the full Western Kenya votes if he woos Amani party leader Musalia Mudavadi and maintain Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula.

The analyst also said that Cord still has a huge support base in Coast, Eastern, lower and upper Nyanza region making its chances in 2017 more realistic.

Cord is fronting for a formation of a super alliance that will unseat Uhuru from power.

The coalition is said to have reached out Gideon Moi, Isaac Ruto, Charity Ngilu, Martha Karua and others as it seeks to unseat President Uhuru in 2017.

Jubilee Party has dismissed Cord’s proposed super alliance.

National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale says that the proposed alliance is not a threat to President Uhuru’s re-election in 2017.

The Garissa Town MP further criticises Mudavadi for fronting the alliance saying that he has no numbers to add to Raila’s vote basket.
