President Uhuru Kenyatta should engage in dialogue with NASA leader Raila Odinga for the country to be better, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has said. Atwoli, who claims he foresaw the current political standoff even before the August 8 general election, says the two leaders holding talks will not mean ceding their positions. “The hard-line positions being exhibited by both sides is putting majority of Kenyans and workers in problems should there be any form of violence,” the seasoned leader of the workers’ union posted on his Facebook page. Atwoli claimed that President Kenyatta was presiding over bad governance, the reason why crime has increased in Nairobi. “Uhuru should not completely ignore the opposition. The effects of bad politics is for instance being felt in Nairobi CBD- people are being mugged in broad daylight,” he said. The stand-off, he said, has led to the loss of 100,000 jobs, according to COTU records.  “The two political sides must meet t save this country and its people,” he added.
