The president Uhuru’s car will be driven on a green carpet all around the tartan track during his entry at the kasarani stadium.
The Kenyan army had to lay the carpet so that the president’s car will not destroy the new surface that was constructed to host the world under 18 championships.
Preparation are underway to make sure the event succeeds. This comes after the head of public service and State House chief of staff Joseph Kinyua announcement that the ceremony will cost ksh. 300 million. He noted, “No amount will be wasted”.
Kenyans on social media have questioned the amount budgeted for the event, claiming the money could be used somewhere else.
A user identified as Nyong said, "This man Joseph Kinyua must be smoking something. Does he have any idea how hard it is to raise Sh.300 million in taxes in these tough times?"
The event will be graced by Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu among other dignitaries. The government spokesperson Eric kiraithe is expected to provide a list of other head of states that have confirmed attendance.
