Chief Justice David Maraga. [Photo: Capital FM]President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to continue 'attacking' Chief Justice David Maraga over his 'fake ruling'.“I will continue questioning Maraga over his fake ruling. I have a right to know what he used to reach the decision and I am completely in disagreement,” Uhuru said in Bungoma on Thursday. But how wise is Uhuru's decision to continue ranting about Maraga's Supreme Court ruling? While some may dismiss Uhuru's attack on Maraga as unwise and attack on the independence of the Judiciary, many will agree that Uhuru's decision can only work for him. Here is why:First, Uhuru is coming out as a strong leader especially among supporters. His regular bashing of Maraga is 'exciting' to his supporters who are angry with Maraga for overturning Uhuru's August 8 victory.Second, Uhuru's bashing of Maraga is perceived by supporters as equivalent to attack on his fierce rival Raila Odinga. This is due to the fact that some even argue that Maraga and Raila 'colluded' to nullify Uhuru's victory and, therefore, he deserves to be 'attacked' day and night.Another thing is that Uhuru's sustained attack on Maraga will form a perception that the October 17 election will be about Maraga and himself (Uhuru). That is why you may have heard Jubilee politicians say severally that they will prove to Raila and Maraga that elections are not won in courts. They are about numbers. Finally, Uhuru supporters have vowed to teach Maraga a lesson on October 17 by coming out in large numbers 'to send Raila to Bondo for good'. You cannot, therefore, expect Uhuru to have niceties for Maraga if even his own supporters are angry with the CJ for 'orchestrating a civilian coup'.
