Wiper Democratic Movement party swept Machakos on Friday.
Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka led other politicians affiliated to Wiper in a grand entry in Governor Mutua’s backyard and drummed up support for Wavinya Ndeti and urged residents not to entertain Jubilee and its sympathizers.
“This time we are not joking. We are targeting 10 million votes. They cried when Wavinya Ndeti garnered over 200,000 votes in the nominations but she can marshal over 400,000 votes in the elections,” Musyoka said as quoted by Nation.
This was the first meeting Ukambani leaders were holding after major defections. The NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka differed with Machakos senator Johnson Muthama. Kitui senator David Musila also accused the party leader of partiality in the primaries.
However, Musyoka was quick to calm the situation. He invited losers to work with those who emerged triumphant. He even promised that the party chairman’s post will remain vacant until the August 8th results.
“I urge those who lost in the nominations to work with the winners. Even the chairman’s seat will not be filled until after the Kitui election results,” he said.
