The University of Nairobi students have a reason to smile following the announcement that the institution will reopen on May 3.
As the students stream back to the university, do they have peace of mind for going home over a petty election with the interests of the few?
Wasting precious time and a dented image of being a rowdy, violent, looting lot? The students should go to school with the following resolutions;
1. Concentrate on books
After such a break, books should cover and mask the guilt. Read for the papers. Read for the purpose that took you to campus.
2. Keep off politics
What's the point of being suspended for a course that no one is paying for? Don't think that the parents and the society are excited over the image that you're casting yet, it's paid for.
3. Learn to resolve matters diplomatically
It's a good habit to show that indeed you're scholars. Does setting SONU offices ablaze show brain? The unspoken fear is that if varsity students, top cream of the society solve their issues so crudely, what of the uneducated? Diplomacy is not cowardice. Diplomacy is using communication to solve conflicts.
4. Impress the world with innovations
Prove that you're the best. Come up with the innovations. Come up with solutions to the problems. If the society looks forward towards improvement, you are at the front row , holding the steering wheels.
Resume session with new resolutions.
