Nation Media Group’s Chief Executive Officer Joseph Muganda has resigned from the giant media house to take over as Vivo Energy’s Managing Director, a job formerly held by Polycarp Igathe.

Muganda, who has been on the job for just two and a half years, announced his resignation on Monday, December 11 and while he did not mention his next destination to the staff, his new home issued a statement immediately.

In a statement, the company’s Group Finance Director Mr. Stephen Gitagama takes over in an acting capacity while also assuring shareholders and the public that the changes are “normal”.

“Mr Muganda has aggressively driven our product portfolio review, presided over a general restructuring and re-oriented the business to seize the opportunities presented by the digital disruption in the media sector,” said Mr. Wildred Kiboro, the NMG Group Chairman.

Muganda joined the company in July 2015 from EABL.

According to Vivo, the company that distributes markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Africa, Muganda’s hiring “steer the company to meet its ambitious goals.”

“I am delighted to welcome Mr. Muganda as the new Managing Director in Vivo Energy Kenya. When he joins in February, his vast experience will bring great added value” read a statement by David Mureithi the company’s Executive Vice President for East and South Region.
