The recent launch of Jubilee Party and the hullabaloo that came with the event is an indicator that vying against Duale and in Garissa Township will prove futile and disastrous.
Since the popular endorsement of Maalim by Raila Odinga, the idea has never borne any fruits. The endorsement has just gone down with less impact as the electorate has considered it a way of curtailing regional development and introducing the unpopular idea of imposing politicians against the wishes of the people.
But one may ask why the idea of Abduwak clan endorsing Duale. Yes, this has luckily augured well for the incumbent Duale since the clan commands much influence in local politics as opposed to Raila's endorsement that has since been considered as a way to win the hearts of local people for his presidential campaigns prior to 2017 elections.
Garissa County and the entire Northern Kenya has lagged behind in terms of development since independence, a fact that has largely been blamed on marginalization.
And while Duale is the first person from the region that has constant touch with the presidency, the area has recorded tremendous developments in all sectors; right from infrastructure, health services and education.
Farah Maalim has served as the Deputy Speaker for five years and his constituents decided to give him a compulsory break from active politics because he never delivered the required services to the local people. Thus, the idea of Farah Maalim battling Duale may be termed as fighting against development and progress in Garissa, a race that will ultimately be counterproductive.
