Ann Waiguru should, and will be the governor of Kirinyaga.
Those that oppose her candidacy the most are just being hypocritical.
You cannot claim to hate corruption and loudly call for Waiguru to give up her candidature, while you support other people who have even worse cases in court. Just because they are 'your people'.
I am of the opinion that no deputy can act on their own volition, especially on something of a huge magnitude. So, if we are to punish Waiguru for the NYS scandal, we should not leave behind her bosses.
If Waiguru should not vie to be the first female governor in Kenya, then there are a few people I know who should not be on the ballot for President, deputy president, governors and members of parliament.
If we are to interdict her, we should not leave behind the members of Public Accounts Committee who were in office when the graft was taking place.
I do not refute that Waiguru has questions to answer, but I also acknowledge that she was one of the most hardworking and result-oriented leader in this country. I want the leader who delivered hygienic toilets, clean streets to the people of Kibera and employed thousands of young people. I want the leader who made service delivery come closer to the people in the form of Huduma Centers. I want the leader who did not just sit pretty in cabinet but folded her sleeves and got the work done.
So, let us stop with the pretense, Ann Waiguru should be governor.
