Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s political partnership with his deputy James Nyoro was a political marriage bound to fail, political analyst Peter Ngure has said.
Ngure argues that Waititu and Nyoro’s partnership will not go far because the two have different approaches to solving issues. In an interview on Monday, Ngure said that Governor Waititu and his deputy’s political marriage was only aimed at sending former Governor William Kabogo packing.“It was not going to work for the two because they have different ideas and approaches on how to tackle issues,” the Kiambu-based political analyst said. The analyst observed that Waititu and Nyoro never took time to understand each other and rushed to form a political union for the sake of winning the August 8, election. He added that Waititu’s extreme aggressiveness in approaching sensitive issues is what could be the main reason for their alleged feud.“Waititu is a politician with aggressiveness and he is used to tackling issues in this manner. What he fails to understand is that he holds an office that needs consultations especially on sensitive matters,” he said.“I don’t see the two working together and completing their term and is just a matter of time before they part ways,” he added. The analyst said that Kiambu is likely to go the Nairobi way after Governor Mike Sonko’s deputy Polycarp Igathe resigned citing frustrations from the governor. On Monday, Nyoro claimed that he is going through torture working under Waititu. The deputy governor claimed that Waititu does not consult him on key and sensitive policy issues. He, however, ruled out resigning, noting that he will file a complaint in court over being sidelined in running of the county affairs.Governor Waititu is yet to respond to Nyoro’s claims.
