Kabogo was appointed to chair the Alliance on Saturday and Ngure says that the move will give him (Kabogo) a political lifeline after he was humiliated in the Jubilee Party (JP) nomination by rival Ferdinand Waititu.

According  the Kiambu based political analyst, Kabogo’s new position should worry his rival Waititu ahead of the August 8 polls.

In an interview on Sunday, Ngure said that Kabogo’s political experience and negotiation power handed him the new post.

Ngure stated that it will be hard to put off Kabogo in the Kiambu governor race with his new position.

“I think Kabogo has been handed a political life-line and Waititu should get worried as we approach the August 8 polls,” he said.

Ngure said that Kabogo’s new position makes him a key person in Mt Kenya's 2022 succession politics.

He said that the Kiambu governor will use his new position to convince locals that he remains the best candidate for the county.

Ngure said that it is not yet time for Waititu and his team to celebrate saying that the Kiambu gubernatorial winner will be decided on August 8.

Kabogo was appointed as chair of the Kenyan Alliance of Independent candidates on Saturday and will be deputized by Uasin-Gishu Governor hopeful Bundotich Buzeki.

The alliance members lost in the JP nomination and have vowed to make a come-back.

The Kenya Alliance of Independent Candidates  has since declared it support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the August 8 polls.

However, a section of politicians allied to Jubilee have dismissed off the Kabogo led alliance claiming that it will cause voter apathy in Uhuru’s strongholds.
