A section of Muslim women in Kilifi have unveiled a campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid and Jubilee Party candidates in the county ahead of the August polls.
The Wamama na Maggie group said Uhuru’s second term will ensure First Lady Margaret Kenyatta continues with her Beyond Zero project, The Star has reported.
They said Monday Jubilee has a vision for Kenyan women, citing the First Lady’s programme.
They have planned to conduct door-to-door campaigns to ensure it wins votes in the county.
One of the members, Zamzam Ali, said women’s groups in all the county’s 35 wards will campaign for Jubilee and its aspirants led by MP Gideon Mung’aro.
Their hope is that all the JP candidates will clinch their respective seats.
Mung’aro is battling Governor Amason Kingi of ODM who is eyeing a second term.
The women accused Kingi of failing to deliver on his mandate.
Last week, the women met JP officials from Nairobi, led by Joseph Mathai, Stanley Kamau of Ahadi Kenya Trust and former Miss World Kenya Cecilia Mwangi to strategise on how to woo voters for the Uhuru-led party.
