Wamatangi, a name that loosely translates to 'tanks' left the senator with no option but to adopt the name officially.

Commonly known as Kimani Wamatangi, the Kiambu second term senator's political fame shot up when he formed the Paul Kimani Wamatangi Foundation in 2003.

The vocal senator says that he formed the foundation to help communities meet their daily needs.

He says that the sole reason for the foundation was to distribute locals with water tanks and encourage the habit of harvesting rain water which was otherwise going to waste.

The Kiambu senator also notes that the foundation was to educate locals on modern farming techniques and help them in sending off their beloved ones.

The second time Jubilee senator reveals that the foundation has helped over 100,000 people since it was formed.

The senator who ventured into politics in 2013 is a businessman with interests in Insurance and vehicle selling.

He says that he prides in seeing the people happy and helping them whenever they are in need.

Wamatangi was a fierce critic of former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

The senator openly differed with Kabogo and often exchanged heated words when it came to matters of accountability.

Wamatangi, who often graces TV discussion talks prides himself in fighting for the interests of county governments.

The senator luckily survived the 2017 political wave that swept majority of his colleagues to political retirement.

Wamatangi was re-elected senator in the 2017 general election beating his closet rival and youthful politician Karungo Wa Thang'wa.

Senator Wamatangi's eyes now could be on the Kiambu gubernatorial as we approach 2022.
