Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi now wants NASA MPs to resign for allegedly abandoning their core duties as elected leaders.

Wamatangi says that NASA MPs move to boycott Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) nomnees vetting last week is a clear indication that they are not interested in their work.

Speaking on NTV's AM LIVe show on Tuesday morning, the Kiambu senator said that NASA legislators are letting down their constituents.

He stated that it is wrong for the opposition allied lawmakers to be drawing salaries and hefty allowances yet they are not perfoming their legislative duties.

"It is saddening that NASA MPS can boycott a serious task of vetting Cabinet nominees and as such they dont have any right to draw salaries," Wamatangi said.

The Jubilee senator said that time has come for leaders to put aside their party interests and serve the people.

The Kiambu senator accused NASA top leadership of allegedly inciting their legislators to boycott important activities in the name of settling political scores.

NASA MPs boycotted the vetting of nine Cabinet Secretaries nominees last week.

The lawmakers had allegedly been advised by their top leaders not to be part of the vetting as the opposition maintains that it does not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency.

The NASA lawmakers have also vowed to boycott the debate on the Cabinet nominees report that will be tabled in the house when Parliament resumes from recess.

On Monday, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale said that they will go on to debate the report by the Appointments committe whether NASA MPs will be in attendance or not.
