The Garissa University will not be holding a commemoration event four years after the institution was attacked by the dreaded Al-Shabab terrorist on April 2, 2015.
According to Garissa varsity vice-chancellor Professor Ahmed Osman Warfa, they took the decision because the events only bring back bad memories.
"We are not doing any event this time round; it only reminds us of the fateful day," said Warfa.
The 2015 incidents claimed the lives of 148 people most of whom were students.
However, Warfa who was the institution's principal during the 2015 attack says the will never forget the ones who lost their lives on the fateful day and also thanked the government for the enhanced security they currently enjoy at the facility.
