It has now been revealed that the discord in Cord was first witnessed after a meeting that was organised to discuss how the coalition will pick its presidential candidate.

A source that spoke on condition of anonymity said a meeting held on 2, July at Maanzoni Lodge had asked Raila to bow out of the race in favor of Kalonzo and Wetangula to square it out. It also suggested that the loser between the two should be the automatic running mate.

Raila was also asked to quit active politics in the meeting.

Th sentiments didn't go well with Raila, who was infuriated that his co-principals were trying to lock him out of the race and even refusing to back any of them.

Raila's threat resulted in a heated debate forcing all co-principals out of the room, leaving their representatives to continue with the deliberations.
