Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula is a man under siege.
Going by recent political developments in Western region, the man seems to be seeing a dark political future.
First, his chances of winning the Cord presidential ticket vanished in thin air long time ago.
ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka are more superior than him politically and wield immense support across the country and would therefore offer better candidates to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.
Secondly, the elevation of ANC's Musalia Mudavadi as Luhya community spokesperson on Saturday hit the last nail on the coffin sealing off his power in the larger former Western province.
So, what should be Wetangula's next move?
Sources indicate the Ford Kenya leader is considering contesting for the Bungoma Governor seat.
They say, Wetangula, being a Cord co-principal gives him an advantage over other contestants including incumbent Kenneth Lusaka who has indicated crossing over to Jubilee.
Wetangula, close to two years ago, proved that he still wields support in the Bungoma County when he was reelected Senator in a byelection beating veteran politician Musikari Kombo and journalist David Makali.
Political analysts say, in fact, if he publicly announced his candidature for the governor position now, the race for the post would be over.
