Wiper Party has continued to suffer losses that are likely to cost Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka Presidency in 2022.
The party’s recent tribulations sent a strong message to the electorate. Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama’s departure has dented Kalonzo’s quest to rise to power.
The NASA deputy President also parted ways with Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and Kitui Senator David Musila with both of them accusing him of frustrating their leadership.
The troubles of the former vice president show that he is losing grip of the Ukambani region. A few months ago, Kalonzo managed to convince a good number of leaders of Ukambani to back him as he sought to ascend to power.
The former vice president’s failure to defeat Cord leader Raila Odinga in the battle for NASA flag bearer has started haunting him.
It will take Kalonzo sacrifice to convince residents that he wants to rise to power. Before the opposition named its flag bearer, Kalonzo insisted that he was not going to allow for diplomacy this time round.
However, this had not been the case. A day after NASA named its line-up, National Assembly Minority leader Francis Nyenze came out claiming that Kambas have been given a raw deal. The problems in Wiper seem not to end today.
