Wiper Democratic Movement Party has distanced itself from planned joint National Super Alliance (NASA) primaries ahead of the August polls.

According to the Secretary General Hassan Omar who spoke on Friday in Mombasa, the party observed that joint nominations could be similar to party dissolution.

He further dismissed assertions by a section of NASA that NASA could lose key positions to Jubilee Party if they field separate candidates, citing Mombasa, where ODM and Wiper had candidates for governorship.

“Wiper has not ratified any decision to joint nomination,” the Mombasa Senator noted.

Nairobi and Mombasa counties are some of the key regions the Opposition alliance has identified that it could have joint nominations, a move that Wiper has vehemently opposed.

The agenda of joint primaries is being pushed by National Coordinating Committee Chair James Orengo.
