According to the Yara Fertilizer company commercial manager, Vitalis Wafula farmers will be able to determine the inputs required for efficient and economic production and also know the soil potential hydrogen (PH).“A proper soil test will help ensure the application of enough fertilizer to meet the requirements of the crop while taking advantage of the nutrients already present in the soil,” Wafula said during the launch of Yara Mila power fertilizer, a soil specific fertilizer in Eldoret town, Wednesday.“Most soils in the region have become acidic leading to poor or low yields, I, therefore, advise farmers to use our 45 field officers across the country who will advise them on the type of fertilizer that will fit their soil. Our aim is for farmers to get high yields with minimal cost through training them on what to do,” he added.Wafula further urged farmers to always purchase farm inputs at licensed dealers to avoid being conned by unscrupulous businessmen that would negatively effect on their production due to use of uncertified seeds and low-quality fertilizer.
