Most people think that a towel should be washed once in a while. They think a towel does not get dirty easily. In fact, some people have always wondered how a towel gets dirty given the fact that it is only used after one has taken a shower. It is usually assumed that one’s skin is freed of all germs after a shower. An assumption which is not entirely true.
A towel is used every day. Sometimes twice a day. After a shower, it is recommended you sun-dry your towel. But some people hang their towels inside the bathroom. A towel, therefore, remains moist most of the time. Even a towel that is sun-dried will still remain moist most of the time because it is used every day (or twice a day) for those who shower in the morning and evening.
During the rainy season, you find that a towel does not get completely dry. This is the more reason why you should wash your towel regularly. Because a towel remains damp most of the time, it accumulates more pathogens (Bacteria and Fungi). These pathogens have the potential to cause various skin infections like rashes and pimples.
Bacteria like moist places. They thrive well in such conditions. A towel which is not washed regularly may be harboring a lot of bacteria. To reduce the chances of skin infections, you need to wash your towel as regular as possible, especially during rainy seasons.
