Opposition chief Raila Odinga was on Wednesday forced to cut his speech severally as irked youths caused mayhem during his Changamwe rally.
It forced the intervention of security men and another plea from Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho before calm was restored.
The youths disrupted Raila Odinga’s speech even as he pleaded for soberness for him to deliver his message.
This incident comes few days after DP William Ruto faced a similar reception in Bungoma from ODM and Ford Kenya supporters.
The youths are said to be uncomfortable with area MP Omar Mwinyi who they say neglected them only to come back to source support for Raila.
The rally which took place at Changamwe Volleyball grounds was among Raila’s last stretch voter mobilization drives at the Coast.
Raila told the youths to be quiet and listen to his message. After calm was reinstated, the ODM party leader called on the residents to register as voters in a bid to garner a wide support margin that would send Jubilee home.
IEBC statistics indicate that Coast is among the regions that recorded the lowest number of voters in its voter listing exercise set to end on February 14.
Coast counties: Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta have 1, 047, 831 potential voters. However, during the first seven days, only 95, 681 were registered.
