Unknown people on Tuesday night burnt the home of a widow in Sugubwa village, Kisii County.
Its said that the lady had left her house to go to a neighbors place when the incident took place.
Efforts by villagers to put off the fire bore no fruits as everything was burnt go ashes.
The lady told Hivisasa that since her husband's death, her brother in laws did not want her there because she had not given birth.
She said severally she had been warned against even farming in the land.
"Where do they want me to go yet their brother is responsible for my coming here?" Posed the lady.
What raised eyebrows is when her inlaws failed to turn up and help put off the fire.
"Why are her inlaws not here?" Wondered James Matundura a local.
Area chief Samson Kebati vowed to protect the lady as she warned her in laws to keep.off her family.
Kebati said the lady had every right to own what belonged to her husband without anyone interfering.
"They should respect the lady. It is even unGodly for one to disturb widows," he said.
Police have launched investogations into the matter.
