The farmers, who live next to the Boni forest suspect that the leopards’ hideout is Boni forest, and they now want KWS to compensate them.

“We woke up to the sad incident where 27 sheep in the neighborhood were attacked by animals suspected to be leopards. We depend on such animals when it comes to finances and it is very sad indeed to lose such a huge number,” Nafthali Abdi, the victim farmer narrated the incident.

Confirming the incident, area Chief Ibrahim Abdullahi said that the wild animals attacked the animals at 3am.

“We are yet to confirm whether its hyenas or leopards. We have contacted Kenya Wildlife Service to initiate investigation,” said the chief.

He challenged the locals not to kill any wild animal since the KWS will intervene.

The residents are urging the government to compensate them and protect them against such attacks.
