Doubtless, 2017 will go down in the annals of the Republic of Kenya as the worst in annals of the history of Kenya in terms of fatal road carnages, the latest being the death of 36 people along the Milgaa stretch.2018 will be a year of reckoning for the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).There has been a lot of pressure mounted on the NTSA for it to be disbanded since it has failed to curb the fatal road carnage.Opposition leader Raila Odinga was most critical of the authority, accusing it of taking bribes from Kenyans so as to allow unroadworthy vehicles on the road. That pressure is expected to increase tenfolds this New Year and it would be interesting to see whether NTSA will hold on or buckle.
