Praying. Kenyans should pray in love for the country. [Photo: twitter.com/UKenyatta]
Do you want justice? Pray. Do you want peace? Pray. You hear the call of prayer for the nation and you believe in God?
Support and join in.
I have heard this argument before, "some are urging the nation to pray, but we won't pray for peace where injustice prevails".
God is able to give us both justice and peace. Do you think God is corrupt? Are you fearing that He might answer the prayers for peace while injustice still prevails? Do you think God is partisan and is subordinate and does what we tell Him without thinking?
Well, seems like you don't know Him well enough or haven't been praying enough. God is very willed. Prayers are just petitions aligned to His will and at times ours. Yet God doesn't answer all in our favour but in His will which is still good enough as I believe He knows what's best for us. He does not answer prayers blindly.
Stop scoffing at calls for prayers, especially if you are a Christian. Pray. It's your duty. Read His Word, it says "pray without ceasing". Pr Justus Kimeu of Jesus Celebration Centre is fond of saying, "the only alternative to 'pray without ceasing' is to 'cease without praying'".
We do not want our country to cease, do we? You do not want to cease, do you?
Those who seem to be calling more for prayers may not be aligned to your political inclination. I know you would love it better if those that you support politically called for prayers instead.
I think praying is where we meet when we are sharply in disagreement politically. Prayer is where East meets the West politically. Muster the faith that you have and strength. Bury the hatchet and heed the call for prayer. We can go back to politics after we have done praying, but by all means, let's pray. Are you concerned that some prayers are hypocritical or are offered by hypocrites? I need to submit to you not to concern yourself with that for two simple reasons. If you are Christian then you do know that you cannot be able to search the heart of men. A man can be evil but while praying offers a sincere prayer to God. You might get stuck in the man's evil nature but his heart which you can't see and only God can search is wholly given to the prayer and God at that time.Since you can not be able to search the heart of men, the noble thing to do is support the prayer and effort the wicked man is offering and believe God for the wicked man's transformation. Secondly and most importantly, if you are a Christian, if you are not sure that a prayer is sincere or not, use the law of love. After all, love conquers all. Love covers over a multitude of sins. Do you know the law of love? It's in the book of 1Corinthians13. Look it up. It says; 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Finally, I want to ask you a question, are peace and justice interchangeable? It's time to put your trust in God. Bring all your burdens to Him in prayer. Take up His yoke for it is light and let's pray.
