Several deputy-governors have expressed intention to unseat their bosses, a fact that has created discontent between county executives.

For Garissa County, nothing much has been reported as to whether Abdullahi Hussein will battle the incumbent Jama come 2017.

Furthermore, governor Jama himself has not revealed much on his current relationship with the deputy.

However, analysts argue that Governor Jama might consider picking a different running mate given the number of seasoned politicians that have already expressed intention to unseat him.

Sometimes last year, Abdullahi Hussein had lamented on the conduct of his boss, accusing him of overstepping his mandate by frustrating his office and even humiliating him in public.

Hussein had raised concern that officials from the governor’s office were assuming some of his roles for the sake of publicity at the expense of his constitutional office.

But given the recent unfoldings in the county government, it could similarly be argued that governor Jama might opt to retain his deputy.

On various occasions, Jama has been seen in the company of his deputy while launching various development projects in the county, an indication that the duo are well on course.
