Four years down the line, memories of Dr Nyoro’s spirited appeal have started making rounds on social media to much acclaim.

During his campaigns, his campaign was premised on improving food security and making Kiambu more productive when it came to agriculture.

Prior to his campaign launch, Dr Nyoro was the Managing Director of the Rockefeller Foundation Africa Office.

He severally spoke on how the country can work towards achieving its blueprint vision 2030.

Speaking at a TEDx event in Nairobi on September 18, 2010, Dr Nyoro said that Kenya was ranked twelfth in terms of food insecurity.

It is on this that he hit the campaign trail but Kiambu voters rejected his ideals.

In 2012, when he visited Hope FM Dr Nyoro outlined his ambition and he had promised rehabilitation of riverine areas, swamps and reclamation of lands that had been misused and their worth depleted.

And with these ideals, will Dr Nyoro dislodge Governor William Kabogo and send aspiring Ferdinand Waititu packing? As we know it, Waititu and Kabogo have been feuding and the latest has been a revelation in court that Waititu may never have been to Punjab University nor has been an employee at PSC.

Kabogo also has his share of issues that portrays him negatively and he was recently shouted down by crowds when the president visited the county. Waititu has accused him of an array of ills and lately, it was his linking Kabogo to murder and drugs. With such muckraking, hopefully all the aspirants will put their houses in order before seeking the support from the electorate.

It is only a matter of time before August 2017. In politics, this is several lifetimes in the life of a politician.

Dr Nyoro’s illustrious career features him as an agricultural economist with special passion on food security issues in Africa and Kenya in particular.

Will Kiambu people finally listen to Dr Nyoro if and when he seeks their support?
