Sotik MP Joyce Laboso has officially announced she will contest for the Bomet Governor seat.
Laboso, who doubles as Parliament Deputy Speaker expressed optimism that she will trounce Governor Isaac Ruto in the 2017 general election to head the county.
She said her passion to unseat Governor Ruto emanates from the urge to help residents of Bomet realise development.
"If you compare the money that Bomet as a county has received from the national government and the work done on the ground, there is a big difference," she said during an inteview on Radio Jambo on Tuesday.
"We have many professionals in Bomet and their potential has not been well tapped. I will incorporate their ideas and see how we will work towards alleviating poverty in Bomet."
Laboso was recently appointed to steer Jubilee Party campaigns in Rift Valley alongside other elected leaders from the region.
Governor Ruto has however, labelled her Deputy President William Ruto's project.
During the recent incident at Silibwet in which the governor was injured supporters of the two leaders clashed.
"The challenge we are currently facing is that our governor focuses more on politics than development. My target is to shift that focus to development."
