Wiper Democratic Movement of Kenya (WDM-K) has opened up on the planned swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga on December 12, 2017.

Raila on Tuesday announced he will take the oath of office to be the fifth president of Kenya, without indicating whether his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka will take part in the ceremony set for the Jamhuri Day.

Kalonzo was Raila's running mate in the August 8 presidential election, the poll which the former Prime Minister claims they won.

Wiper organising secretary Robert Mbui said the party will issue its statement on the planned ceremony before the scheduled date sets in.

"We are still waiting for clear information on the subject from our party leader," he told the Sunday Nation.

Mbui, however, admitted that Kalonzo's party was not involved in the preparation for the Raila's inauguration.

"I understand why not every single member may be fully in the picture because things are still at the planning stage. There is still time to concentrate on all this before December 12," he said on Saturday.

Some Wiper members told Sunday Nation that they were not keen on the swearing-in because it was clear that Kalonzo will not be in the country during the ceremony.

The former Vice President has been away attending his ailing wife in Germany.

"I wonder how Raila will take oath without his deputy as the law requires," said Wiper MP who spoke in confidence to the local daily.
