An MP from Western Kenya has denied claims that opposition party Amani National Congress (ANC) led by Musalia Mudavadi plans to collaborate with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 presidential polls.
Tindi Mwale (Butere) said there is no such a deal adding that ANC is firmly in the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition and has no plans of bolting out.
The MP spoke hours after meeting Deputy President William Ruto in Nairobi on Thursday.
"Our handshake with the Deputy President was purely anchored on development agenda," Mwale, one of the MPs who have heavily criticized the ouster of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula from his Senate Minority Leader position said.
"Being a leader in Kakamega County and Kenya at large, my priority is representing the interests of the common Kenyan, am interested in changing the lives of the less fortunate. Those castitergating the handshake are not development oriented leaders."
There have been claims that Ruto who eyes the presidency in 2022 is in talks with Mudavadi and other senior politicians from the former Western province to craft a union that will boost his presidential bid in 2022. Mudavadi denies the claims.
This came after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko warned Ruto that Central Kenya may not back his presidential bid in 2022.
