NASA leader Raila Odinga is a big name in the local political scene, going by what he has achieved over the years and the reputation he has built.

His option however seems to be limited after the two rounds of elections, with President Kenyatta winning the repeat polls on October 26.

With the country and Kenyans at large waiting for Kenyatta’s swearing-in, many eyes will on Raila’s next move.

he has maintained that his coalition will not recognize Uhuru’s presidency, saying he won unfairly.

His coalition has insisted that they will push for the establishment of peoples’ assembly, which will in turn push for the structural change in the country’s leadership.

Will he, Odinga, accept to play the official opposition leader once again for the next five years?

According to lawyer Martin Oloo, who spoke to the Standard, Raila’s options might be limited, and would choose to stay in the wings and keep eyes firmly on 2022 or groom one of his principals to take the mantle.

“There is no other legal framework or basis to have another election. Effectively, what Raila needs now is to rethink what he wants. If he wants to go the people’s assembly way, let him go the full hog and this might lead into a referendum,” said Oloo as quoted by the Standard.

Odinga’s supporters will be waiting on their general’s next directive, with Tuesday’s planned rally at Jacaranda in Nairobi one they are looking at.
