There is no doubt that Suna East MP Junet Mohammed is a towering political figure in Migori County, and has cemented his place in the county's history books.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

This is because, he is the first ever man from the Somali community to be elected MP in the cosmopolitan county.

Now serving his second term in Parliament, Junet has also won the trust of NASA leader Raila Odinga, the region's undisputed political supremo. With the duo's amazing political chemistry, Junet's future in Nyanza politics looks even brighter.

So what next for the National Assembly Minority Whip? The attention shifts to 2022. And with Migori Governor Okoth Obado set to step down at the end of his second and final term, is Junet the man to succeed him? Though the lawmaker is yet to reveal his next political move, there are claims that he is gunning for the top county seat.

Obado's 2017 opponent Ochillo Ayacko is expected to try his luck again in 2022. And should Junet go for the same seat, Migori's two political heavyweights might face off for the ODM ticket.

Just as he has always done in the past, the Suna East MP makes the impossible happen. And before you realize, he is the next Migori Governor and the first ever Somali to do so in a 'foreign' county.
