As the Mombasa gubernatorial race shapes up, aspirants are seeking ways to unseat Governor Hassan Joho come August 8.
For instance, Jubilee governor candidate Suleiman Shahbal has intensified his campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general election.According to the Star, Shahbal has been conducting daily door-to-door campaigns in his bid to woo voters.Besides, he is also seeking the backing of all communities residing in the region.The daily added that the former banker had in the past two weeks met voters from different communities who have vowed to support him.Already, Shahbal has met with Kambas, Luhyas, Kaya elders and Maasais, all who have promised to support his quest for the county governorship.Members of the Somali community on their part remain noncommittal, stating that they'll make their stance known after Ramadhan.“All communities - large or small - are key stakeholders. We don't have second-class citizens,” said Shahbal.
