Presidential election petition petitioner, the National Super Alliance (Nasa) has been granted access to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers and the Kenya Integrated Management System (KIEMS).
Nasa asked for access to the systems, following allegations that the servers were hacked, with aims to subvert election results, in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was declared president-elect by the IEBC, August 11, after the August 8 polls.
In a unanimous ruling read by Justice Isaac Lenaola, Monday morning, Supreme Court however rejected Nasa's request for full access to audit the IEBC servers and logs.
Lenaola granted Nasa, access to 'read-only copy' so as to select data and equipment that the Wafula Chebukati-led agency, which is the first respondent in the petition, used to conduct the general election.
"Petitioners should be given access to password policy and password matrix," said Lenaola.
The Raila Odinga-led alliance was also granted access to certified soft copies of Forms 34A and 34B, of the presidential election results.
In a quick rejoinder, Nasa twitted: " We thank Supreme Court of Kenya for granting Nasa access to and reviewing of IEBC server logs and KIEMS technology."
