Among the student beneficiaries who performed exemplary in the 2014 KCPE exams was Diana Ajwang with 414 marks from Manyatta Primary school.

Speaking during the county flag off ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta Sport ground, Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir urged Equity Group Foundation to consider students with lower marks to be sponsored to technical polytechnics within the counties.

“'We must have a safety net. We must deal with students who get marks below 250 too and put them in local polytechnics,” said Shakeel Shabir.

He added that Kisumu East Constituency spends Sh25 million on bursary allocations for the needy and vulnerable student and that this year out of the 4000 applicants, 40 students have benefited from the CDF kitty.

The Kisumu East MP urged the students to add value to the mark and strive to excel as they do their KCSE examinations.

Equity Kisumu Branch Manager Tom Kuyoh said the scholars will receive mentorship and leadership development and career guidance to enable students achieve their full potential.

He added that Wings to fly program provides school fees, uniform, transport and pocket money in a bid to create conducive environment for the students’ success.
