Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i today, Thursday officially launched the Wings to Fly programme for 2018, where thousands of students will be getting scholarships courtesy of Equity Bank.

Matiang’i challenged parents to ensure they give their best to their children in terms of education while saying the recent changes in the education curriculum are meant to help better the system.

“In our country, we have to be honest, we should raise up our children responsibly. We have a very strong education system, a strong enabling system for education to thrive,” he said.

The Bank’s CEO James Mwangi said they are working towards ensuring that many more students will be admitted to international universities.

“So in total, we will have 471 kids on an internship programme, we hope the government can give us tax debates for the Sh450,000 each one of them would have got. We have started working on them to see how many will be admitted to international universities,” said Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi.

“Last year our As and A- from wings to fly plus the 141 and those who had grades were 681 students, we are glad to say 83 of them have managed to be admitted to international universities,” he added.
