15 children from various schools in Matungulu sub-county are the beneficiaries of wings to fly programme by the Equity bank.
Addressing the media at her office on Monday after the flag off ceremony, the Tala branch manager for equity bank Hellen Muthoki said that among the fifteen beneficiaries 11 of them were called to national schools.
Muthoki explained how the selection was hectic whereby 158 children had applied and they only needed 15 of them but with the help of the Community Sponsorship Selection board (CSSB) they were able to do it.
She thanked the teachers for their utmost hard work to ensure the children do well in exams despite the teacher's strike experienced last year and wished the beneficiaries all the best as they embark on the journey of high school education.
Hadard Wanjau the District education officer for Kangundo sub-county and also the chairman of the selection board called on to other well wishers to sponsor the children who were left out by the programme.
"We couldn't sponsor all the 158 applicants so we call upon other well wishers to help those children who were left out," said Wanjau.
Carolyn Njeri one of the beneficiaries couldn't hide her joy explaining that the sponsorship is the best thing that could have happened to her where she has high hopes of completing school and becoming a neurotic engineer.
