Wiper Party has accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) of falling prey to machinations spearheaded by some of the state operatives to propagate voter registration fraud.
The party questioned the credibility of the mass voter registration exercise that kicked off on Monday after it emerged that their Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka shared the same ID number with a woman from Wajir County.
Despite denying claims of double listing, the Party has blamed the commission for being manipulated by the state at the expense of democracy.
Speaking at the Party’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Mombasa Senator and secretary general Hassan Omar expressed concern over the way IEBC is conducting the voter registration exercise.
“It’s extremely shocking that while in Wajir on Wednesday this week, our party leader Kalonzo Musyoka found out that he shared an ID number with a Ms Salome Wanjiru Njoroge, who was born in 1993,” he said.
“If Kalonzo is not safe, who is? This is part of the fraud expected in rigging the elections,” said Omar, as quoted by the Star.
Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi have affirmed that they will not leave room for the commission to rig the elections in favor of any party.
