Former Wiper executive director Gideon Mulyungi has assured his supporters and voters that the political outfit will conduct free and fair nominations when that time comes, Star reports.
Mulyungi, who has joined the Mwingi Central parliamentary race, has remained upbeat that he will trounce his rivals in the upcoming nominations. The legislator, who addressed residents at the Nguni market, Mwingi Central constituency, told the electorate that there is no cause for alarm over nominations.
Mulyungi, a former PS in the Ministry of Public Works, called upon his rivals to ensure that their supporters maintain peace during the exercise as he looks forward to unseating MP Joe Mutambu, who defected from Wiper to Jubilee citing frustrations from the political outfit’s top brass.
The aspirant pointed an accusing finger at Mutambu for allegedly taking bribes from the senior government officials and betraying the people that elected him into power ahead of the August General polls.
On his part, Mutambu has rubbished Mulyungi’s claims terming them baseless. The area MP has also insisted that Jubilee is the only political outfit that will rescue the people of Ukambani from underdevelopment.
The legislator will have to pitch tents in different parts of the constituency in order to retain his seat considering the massive support Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka enjoys in the region.
