Peterson Mitau will now fly the Wiper Party's flag for the Changamwe parliamentary seat in the forthcoming August polls. This follows a successful appeal he had lodged at the Wiper National Elections Board saying party agents favoured his rival Daniel Muange in the nominations.During the exercise that was held on Tuesday last week, Muange garnered 1,101 votes against Mitau's 1,069.Francis Mulige was third with 526 votes. However, Mitau objected the results and appealed to the board on Thursday. In its ruling, the board said the results announced by the returning officer were erroneous and thus revoked the certificate awarded to Muange.“The Appeals board has made the findings that the results of Changamwe constituency primaries declared by the returning officer on April 19 were erroneous and invalid and has accordingly annulled and revoked the same," reads part of the board's letter signed by vice chairperson Samson Masila.Mitau said justice had prevailed, as reported by the Star.Mitau spoke Saturday upon his arrival at Mombasa International Airport from Nairobi where he said he garnered 1,069 votes against Muange's 806.
