Machakos chairman of Wiper Democratic Movement Mr Albanas Mutisya on Monday said that Moses Kuria, the Member of Parliament of Gatundu south, who has been accused of hate speech should remain behind bars and deserved no bond to keep him out of police custody.
Albanas said that Luria's hate speech was very serious, and got Cord members pretty worried, wondering if there could be a sort of plan to harm Cord leader, Raila Odinga.
A video of Moses Kuria claiming that Raila could be assassinated went viral on social media several days ago, after which he was arrested for hate speech but was set free with a bond, on Monday.
"Kuria should have stayed in jail for claiming Raila could be assassinated because we, as Cord are worried that there could be such plans. It is a shame for the government to spare such a person for all we are hearing is that Kuria only wrote a statement with the police, of which there are rumors on social media that Kuria didn't even put down his signature on that statement," complained Albanas.
Albanas words were backed up by ODM commissioner Mr Peter Mutulu, who said that the government is playing a major role in facilitating ethnic differences by expression of favourism and unfairness in dealing with political crimes.
"The government has a major role in ethnicity and if ethnic based politics takes us to the worst come 2017, the government will be to blame a big deal, starting with what happened in Nakuru on Saturday with leaders in the government mobilizing youth to chase Raila and tell his he is not welcomed in Nakuru, then now with Kuria's case not being taken as serious as it is," said Mutulu.
