According to Wiper secretary, general Hassan Omar show-cause letters were sent to the rebels on Friday.

He said that the defectors will have to submit their show-cause submissions within seven days after which they will be required to appear before a five-member disciplinary committee chaired by Harun Ndubi.

Omar confirmed that show-cause letters have been sent to Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu, Mwingi North MP John Munuve, nominated MP Robert Muutemi, Kilome MP Regina Ndambuki and Kisoi Munyao of Mbooni constituency.

According to the Star, Omar said that the disciplinary committee that was established on Wednesday is working out on structures and procedures to be used during the disciplinary sessions.

He said that failure by the defectors to appear or present their show-cause submissions will lead to an action being taken without further referrals

"The defectors have seven days to  submit their submissions failure to which there will be no more communication with them and the disciplinary committee will be left to make a verdict basing on the procedures provided the party constitution," he said as quoted by the Star.

Omar also said that apart from show-causing, Governor Mutua will have to explain his decision to form a political movement when he is still a Wiper party member.

Some of the defectors have said that they are ready to face the disciplinary committee and are ready for the outcome.

While Mutua has not defected to any party, his close relationship with Jubilee Party is worrying Wiper.

Mutua’s move to form the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement and register it as party has also angered Wiper party.

On Thursday, governor Mutua said that he is not afraid of being kicked out of Wiper. Governor Mutua who spoke in Masinga said that his interest is to advance development agenda in Machakos.
