Wiper Party members have insisted that the National Super Alliance (NASA) should name Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka flag bearer ahead of the August General polls.

Led by Minority leader in the National Assembly Francis Nyenze the leaders have said that they are not ready to deliberate over the matter.

A 2013 pre-election agreement appeared to cause a storm in NASA on Wednesday after leaders affiliated to Wiper insisted that their boss is the right candidate to lock horns with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in the forthcoming polls.

Nyenze said that if the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Wiper is anything to go by then  Cord Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress (ANC) should pave way for Kalonzo.

“Kalonzo will not be deputy to anybody because of the 2013 MoU. We still stick to that. Why would we want to change if it was agreed upon? It will be difficult to convince the Kamba people that we are going for second place again,” said Mr Nyenze, as quoted by Nation.

Nyenze also opposed attempts to increased the members of ODM in the coordinating committee , arguing that it will give Raila an upper hand over other candidates.

“It was actually three weeks ago but we said they cannot sit in the committee because each candidate has to have three representatives. Having two more would have given Raila an unfair advantage over others,” he added.
