A section of Wiper Party members who turned up for the party primaries in Mombasa on Tuesday have called for a repeat of the exercise, terming it a sham. The agitated members who gathered in Changamwe said several names were missing from the register, adding the primaries were not free and fair as purported by the Party Secretary General Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. The members led by Mombasa Wiper Democratic Party Coordinator Afiya Rama said they have been complaining about anomalies in the register only to be ignored by Omar. She said the Party leadership should announce a fresh date for the nominations and update the register before any other primaries are conducted especially in Mombasa.“We are very furious about today’s incidences, this was as a result of dictatorship in the Party, we will fight on until the secretary general heeds our call,” said Rama. She said Wiper was slated for a major disintegration if such complaints remain ignored by the Party leadership. She said that the Party leadership was so discriminative and had already identified those to be handed the nomination certificates ignoring old and loyal members. Her sentiments were echoed by Chaani Wiper Party Chair Hassan Galgalo Guyo who called for a repeat of the whole exercise in Mombasa.Guyo said it was a total shame for new members to be imposed on them as leaders while the old and loyal members’ names were missing in the register.Guyo condemned Omar for allegedly running the party affairs in a dictatorship manner. On his part, Chaani Wiper Party Aspirant Ibrahim Hassan Mratusi said if the primaries were not repeated they will gang up against Omar to ensure he looses in the August general elections.“We know where to revenge, we will floor Omar in the gubernatorial contest and support his opponents,” said Mratusi.Omar is yet to issue any official statement over the Tuesday primaries, though he promised to do so after the all the areas affected properly scrutinized.
